Fujifilm to invest $4.5bn by 2028 in biopharmaceutical plants

North Carolina facility to get more equipment as company boosts capacity fivefold

TOKYO -- Fujifilm Holdings will invest 700 billion yen ($4.5 billion) by 2028 to expand its biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing business in the U.S. and elsewhere as client pharmaceutical companies outsource more to reduce costs.

The Japanese company will invest an additional $1.2 billion to introduce additional equipment at a plant already under construction in North Carolina.
