South Korea's daily COVID cases hit record high on variants

Young adults have highest infection rate despite strict social distancing steps

SEOUL -- South Korea on Wednesday confirmed a record high number of daily COVID-19, as variants of the coronavirus spread quickly among young adults despite strict social distancing restrictions around Seoul.

Health authorities reported 1,615 new cases, soaring from 1,150 a day earlier. Total infections reached 171,911 with 2,048 deaths.
