Philip Morris aims to end its Japan cigarettes sales within 10 years

TOKYO -- Philip Morris International, the U.S. tobacco giant that makes Marlboro and Lark brand cigarettes, aims to stop selling cigarettes in Japan within 10 years, Nikkei has learned.

Revisions to the Health Promotion Law that went into effect last year prohibits smoking cigarettes in restaurants. In response, the company is turning its focus to "heat-not-burn" tobacco products, in which it holds a 70% share of the Japanese market.
