TOKYO -- The governments of the U.S. and Japan are laying the groundwork for Vice President Kamala Harris to attend former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's state funeral on Sept. 27, Nikkei has learned.
The trip would mark Harris' first visit to Japan as vice president. She is expected to meet Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
