HondaJet to arrive in Japan after global sales whirlwind

Automaker to deliver top-selling small jet in home market by mid-2019

Honda President Takahiro Hachigo announces the HondaJet's release in Japan on June 6.

TOKYO -- Honda Motor on Wednesday said it will begin selling its small business jet, the HondaJet, in Japan with a goal of starting deliveries by the first half of 2019.

The move continues the automaker's push into the world's aircraft markets, after it landed in the U.S. in late 2015. Though the Japanese market is far smaller than those of the U.S. and Europe, the introduction of a domestic plane is expected to spark a surge in interest.
