Software developer Obic poised for 24th year of profit growth

Japanese work reforms fuel demand for its system solutions

Demand is on the rise for Obic's enterprise resource planning software.

TOKYO -- Obic's operating profit will likely jump 15% to about 32 billion yen ($301 million) for the year ending Saturday, hitting a 24th straight record and beating its forecast of 8% growth to 30 billion yen, as workplace reforms in Japan have boosted system development demand from an array of industries.

The Tokyo-based software developer's sales are expected to rise 8% to more than 66 billion yen, topping its projection of 6% growth to 65 billion yen. Obic's system integration business has been the main driver as companies have sought to manage data from different departments under a single system.
