Nomura Research heads for third straight record profit

Firm draws more demand for systems development from financial institutions

Nomura Research Institute operates data centers that serve a wide array of clients.

TOKYO -- Nomura Research Institute is expected to report an 11% increase in its operating profit to about 65 billion yen ($618 million) in the year ending March, as the push for workplace reforms in Japan boosts corporate demand for systems development, putting the company on track for its third straight year of record earnings.

The company, which offers research, consulting and systems development services, is likely to beat its fiscal 2017 operating profit projection of 64 billion yen.
