Software provider Obic seen posting record first-half profit

Demand grows for efficiency-enhancing systems and cloud services

A data center in Tokyo. Demand for cloud services is growing among companies seeking to enhance efficiency.

TOKYO -- Business software provider Obic is expected to report a consolidated operating profit of roughly 16 billion yen ($141 million) for the half ended in September, a 15% increase on the year as demand for efficiency-enhancing systems and cloud services grew. 

That result would mark the Tokyo-based company's 17th straight record first-half profit. Sales are seen up 9% to around 32.5 billion yen.
