Japan-Update

Kose's profit seen soaring 40% to first-half record

High-end skin care, cosmetics popular among tourists to Japan

Cosme Decorte is faring well in Japan, China, Hong Kong and elsewhere.

TOKYO -- Kose is on track to a roughly 40% jump in interim operating profit, to around 26 billion yen ($230 million), thanks in large part to brisk sales of high-end cosmetics to foreigners visiting Japan.

The figure far surpasses the projected 2% increase to 19 billion yen, which already would have been a record for an April-September period.
