Japan's Obic likely to grow profit on workplace reform

Demand for efficient systems boosts sales, while reduced overtime cuts costs

TOKYO -- Japanese business software provider Obic's consolidated operating profit is seen jumping 15% year on year to about 7 billion yen ($62.4 million) for the April-June quarter, as workplace reform spurs companies to ramp up investment in efficiency-improving systems.

Consequently, Obic will log 14 straight operating profit increases in the April-June period since quarterly reporting began, and this year's will be its largest ever. Sales are expected to climb 10% to about 15 billion yen.
