TOKYO -- Yokogawa Electric's group operating profit probably jumped 18% on the year to around 6 billion yen ($53 million) in the April-June quarter, thanks to rising orders of its control systems and maintenance services for petrochemical plants in Japan.
Sales apparently stayed flat at around 90 billion yen. The Japanese engineering company produces systems that control such conditions as temperature and liquid flow inside petrochemical and power plants. Demand to renew such systems is growing as Japan's large number of aging facilities undergo major renovations.
