Yamato Holdings seen logging $60m loss for April-June

Courier again pays hefty sums for past overtime

Core unit Yamato Transport is addressing overwork amid climbing demand for package delivery.

TOKYO -- Yamato Holdings is expected to report an operating loss of around 7 billion yen ($61.4 million) for the three months through June, as payments for past overtime weighed on earnings amid efforts to improve conditions for delivery personnel. 

The figure would mark a second straight quarter of operating loss and a sharp reversal from 7.4 billion yen profit from a year earlier.
