Nippon Signal to electrify Taiwan railway

Construction begins this year in overseas push

TOKYO -- Nippon Signal will take on a railway electrification project in Taiwan for the island's Transport Ministry, as it aims to develop its overseas segment into a main profit driver.

The Japanese railway signal maker will partner with a Taiwanese manufacturer to electrify about 120km of the South-Link Line, while also delivering railroad signal systems and crossing equipment. Construction will start within this year.
