Maruha Nichiro profit seen sinking 12% on purchasing costs

Softer yen may hurt seafood company's margin on imports in fiscal 2017

TOKYO -- Higher costs for purchasing seafood from overseas are expected to erode Maruha Nichiro's performance in the year ending March 2018.

Operating profit likely will total around 23 billion yen ($212 million), down 12% from the estimate for fiscal 2016.
