Online food delivery provider seen posting 64% profit jump

Yume no Machi Souzou Iinkai's results helped by website overhaul, courier service

TOKYO -- The operator of online food-delivery site Demae-can likely saw operating profit soar 64% to around 350 million yen ($3.17 million) in the six months through February, thanks to an increase in users and its new courier service.

Yume no Machi Souzou Iinkai is expected to beat previous profit projections by roughly 100 million yen. Sales at the Osaka-based company apparently grew 20% to more than 2.4 billion yen. Customer numbers jumped after its mainstay Demae-can website was upgraded at the end of 2016 to allow unregistered users to easily order food online.
