Japan's Topre ramping up US capacity 50%

Autoparts maker aims to get jump on expected demand

TOKYO -- Topre, a Japanese maker of pressed automobile components, is boosting U.S. production capacity 50% by 2020 to keep pace with demand from Japanese automakers in that market.

The company will spend about 10 billion yen ($87.1 million) to expand an existing pressing plant in Tennessee and build its third American plant in Ohio. The new production complex will be approximately two hours from Honda Motor's factory in Indiana and Toyota Motor's Kentucky facilities.
