More shops, health craze seen giving Lawson record profit

Japanese convenience store chain marks 14 straight years of growth

TOKYO -- Japanese convenience store operator Lawson likely logged a 2% increase in group operating profit for the fiscal year ended in February to reach nearly 74 billion yen ($668 million) as the company expanded its sales network and enjoyed success with healthy foods.

The increase would constitute a record profit for Lawson, along with a 14th consecutive year of growth.
