Japan-Update

Isuzu profit seen skidding 10% in April-December

Middle Eastern slump wipes out brisk Japan performance

Isuzu builds trucks in Japan for export to the Mideast.

TOKYO -- Isuzu Motors' operating profit for the nine months through December likely dropped more than 10% on the year to around 110 billion yen ($975 million) on sales slowdowns overseas.

The Tokyo-based automaker's sales apparently fell 5% to about 1.35 trillion yen. Trucks and buses sold strongly in Japan, but not enough to offset poor overseas sales, especially in the Middle East.
