Sapporo seen brewing up another profit gain in 2017

Domestic beer sales, real estate business to underpin results

A new aromatic version of Sapporo's high-end Yebisu line of beers is expected to help drive profits higher in 2017.

TOKYO -- Sapporo Holdings will likely lift group operating profit 5% to roughly 21 billion yen ($185 million) in the year ending December 2017 on Japanese sales of its core beer offering and a boost from the real estate segment.

Sales are expected to climb 5% to around 568 billion yen, with the bulk coming from the Black Label line of beer. Beer gardens in Tokyo and Osaka serving Black Label lager are expected to attract new customers. The Japanese brewer is also launching a sales event marking the 40th anniversary of the brand.
