Bridgestone to build Thai aircraft tire plants

Southeast Asian travel demand seen as promising earnings source

TOKYO -- Bridgestone plans to spend 15 billion yen ($127 million) to construct two aircraft tire factories in Thailand, aiming to tap the Southeast Asian market as demand for planes grows.

The plants will mark the Tokyo-based manufacturer's first aircraft tire production sites abroad when they come online in December 2019. Thursday's announcement did not detail output capacity. Bridgestone currently has two aircraft tire plants in Japan.
