Isuzu readies upgrade to main Japanese truck plant

New maintenance, logistics centers meant to boost productivity

TOKYO -- Isuzu Motors is spending around 9 billion yen ($76.6 million) on new logistics and maintenance facilities to improve operations at the Japanese company's main domestic plant for building trucks.

The maintenance hub, set to open in February as an addition to the Fujisawa factory near Yokohama, will be run by a sales unit for the greater Tokyo area. Customer feedback collected during maintenance will be used to inform vehicle development and production through a research center at the plant.
