Pigeon upgrades profit forecast as sales grow in Japan, abroad

Baby goods maker rides e-commerce wave in China

From baby bottles to soap, Pigeon makes a variety of baby- and infant-related products.

TOKYO -- Japanese baby goods maker Pigeon on Monday upgraded its full-year forecast for net profit to 13 billion yen ($118 million), up 17%, thanks to strong sales in China and among foreign tourists at home.

The Tokyo-based company had projected a 6% increase to 11.8 billion yen for the 12 months ending in January, which still would mark the eighth straight year of record profit.
