TOKYO -- Major apparel retailer TSI Holdings' operating profit likely grew 150% on the year to slightly more than 4 billion yen ($34.6 million) in March-November, a record for the nine-month period, thanks to brand restructuring and the closure of unprofitable stores last summer.
The Tokyo-based company, whose brands include Natural Beauty Basic and Nano Universe, apparently saw sales shrink 6% to just shy of 120 billion yen, hurt by the first-half shuttering of such labels as Body Dressing, for women in their 30s to 40s. Excluding the impact of brand termination, sales rose 3.1%.
