Lawson profit slumps on store renovation costs

TOKYO -- Convenience store operator Lawson's March-August operating profit likely fell 5% year on year to around 40 billion yen ($389 million) amid an expansive store renovation campaign.

The Japanese company still likely beat the 39.5 billion yen estimate by revising overtime policies and cutting spending at headquarters.
