Japan's Obic poised for record first-half profit

TOKYO -- Business software provider Obic's operating profit likely grew 6% to 13.8 billion yen ($133 million) in the April-September half, reaching an all-time high for the period on strength in its cloud and maintenance service businesses.

Sales are seen up 4% on the year to around 30 billion yen, just shy of the projected 30.2 billion yen. More companies than expected made the switch from dedicated servers to cloud-based systems, which pushed down sales of such equipment as servers.
