TOKYO -- Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera urged the U.S. on Wednesday to halt flights by AH-1 attack helicopters in Okinawa Prefecture after a second incident involving the aircraft this month, but the appeal went unanswered to the dismay of local people.

The latest incident involves an AH-1 helicopter making an emergency landing on the small island of Tonaki, west of Okinawa's main island.
