Japan-Update

Bearings maker NSK seen topping profit target in fiscal 2018

Demand recovery paving the way for price hikes and margin improvements

TOKYO -- Japan's NSK will probably generate roughly 108 billion yen ($975 million) in group operating profit in the year through March 2019, surpassing the existing projection for 100 billion yen.

Making the most of a demand recovery, the company is looking to raise the price of industrial machinery parts. Stronger sales of high-margin products in its auto parts operations are also expected to help lift the bottom line.
