TOKYO -- Nissan Motor's executive vice president in charge of manufacturing and supply chain management will soon leave his post, prompting speculation that he is taking responsibility for the Japanese automaker's quality inspection scandal.
Fumiaki Matsumoto, 59, will retire effective Dec. 31, Nissan said Thursday. Taking his place will be Hideyuki Sakamoto, 61, who is currently the executive vice president of product engineering.
