Daio Paper and Pigeon team with Alibaba on baby goods in China

Consumers can try Japanese products in stores, buy them via virtual mall

TOKYO -- Japan's Daio Paper and Pigeon are partnering with internet giant Alibaba Group Holding to develop and sell baby products in China, where demand is growing for high-quality Japanese products.

The paper manufacturer and the baby goods maker will provide disposable diapers and supply toys that consumers can use for free in kids' spaces and breast-feeding rooms at Alibaba-backed department stores and shopping malls. Consumers can purchase any product they like through Alibaba's online market place Tmall by scanning the bar code on each item's tag with their smartphones.
