Thai auto production up 25% on rebound from Toyota cut

BANGKOK -- Automobile output in Thailand jumped 25% year on year in May, but the solid growth may not be a reliable indicator for the future, as it owes largely to Toyota Motor's steep curtailment of production a year earlier.

The sharpest rise in 38 months took the output to 168,394 units for a third consecutive month of gains, data released Tuesday by the Federation of Thai Industries shows.
