Japan's sporting goods firms expanding public facilities ops

TOKYO -- Major Japanese sporting goods makers are expanding commissioned operations of public sports facilities, hoping the business will lead to sporting equipment sales ahead of Tokyo's hosting of the 2020 Olympic Games.

Mizuno is commissioned to operate this sports facility in Osaka.

     Asics entered the market this spring when it inked a deal to operate nine public facilities in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture.
