Japan to freeze nuclear cooperation if India restarts arms tests

TOKYO -- Japan will suspend the nuclear cooperation pillar of the investment and loan agreements reached with India on Saturday should the South Asian giant resume weapons testing, prompting calls to compensate participating companies for losses.

     The deal will lead to India's entry "into the international nuclear nonproliferation framework," Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Monday.
