Tokyo Gas to exit Brazilian energy business

TOKYO -- Tokyo Gas is withdrawing from the energy supply business in Brazil, concentrating resources on North America and Southeast Asia.

     The natural gas company and Mitsui & Co. jointly acquired a Brazilian company in 2012 and have been supplying energy to local commercial facilities and hotels. The business generated sales of 100 million reais ($27 million at current rates) in fiscal 2014.
