Recalls over Takata air bags may rise by 7m cars in Japan

TOKYO -- The Japanese government is urging automakers to recall an additional 7 million or so vehicles sold in the country with faulty Takata air bags, sources revealed Monday.

Japan's transport ministry is following in the footsteps of U.S. authorities, which ordered recalls on all Takata air bags that did not come with a dessicant that prevents their inner mechanism from deteriorating.
