IPOs in Japan to rise 60% in Jan.-June period

TOKYO -- The number of initial public offerings in Japan is set to surge 60% in the first half of this year from a year earlier to 43, an eight-year high for the six-month period.

     The number of companies going public in the January-June period will be the highest since the same six-month period of 2007, when 73 companies listed their shares.
